about

Fun Da Mental is a soundtrack to "life lived" and "life observed". The Political commentary, although very outspoken and nuanced, is and remains a matter of debate.

The musical form has its own magic, from one extreme to another but also creating new extremes, it has no rules to adhere to or does it wish too.
From Punk to electronic destruction to orchestration created on a battle field, it still created a common thread of alarming proportions.

Fun Da Mental just like many other bands on Nation Records opened up that "house of confusion" to many artists from around the world who themselves blossomed as they were encouraged to speak about the injustice endured but also an optimistic progressive attitude to move forward.

They were without doubt breaking any notion of romantic stereotypes but not just from the lazily "Asian Underground" tag, they were far more embracing of other identities than credited for as each new line up showed.
The creativity and the sounds emanating is the evidence, the construction of ideas, new grounds of experimentation, never was it a stagnant concept, pushed by a spirit and passion that would not stand still.

The body of work, musically, politically, artistically and lyrically is and will remain as a source of anarchic expression from every part of the soul of many.
